RESEARCH RE-RUN
Research has always been an icon in a life of a student. It always project good memories (Do they?) From being caffeinated overnight to finish the paper to being a “gisado" during the defense, surely it does bring back good memories!
The research digest is sort of a refresher when tackling the basic parts of a research. It is to buckle us up that we will be running towards research again on our college life. When I’m doing that task, it makes me remember all what I’ve learned on my past researches. The part I enjoyed the most was reading the data analysis. I get to relearn the different tools in a quantitative research along with the statistics part (standard deviation, weighted mean, etc.) It really takes me back when I palpitated multiple times just to finish the final paper.
These past days, I reread the study that has been given back then. I still remembered some bits that I wrote when I did the digest. Redoing the digest once again tracked how I understood the study and tested how my comprehension. Are there improvements since the ECQ? It turns out I slightly misunderstood some analyses since some tools are new to me. SPSS PROCESS OLS Regression were brand new to me. I also took notes of the things that might help me when we write our research paper as college students.
It feels good to come back in doing this task (Nostalgia much?) The research made me redo, relearn, rethink. Sometimes, doing things all over again can provide us the improvements we really need. In the end, we can’t escape research. It has become one of the vital elements in humanity because we tend to seek new information and new knowledge. And whenever we have new problems, research comes to play.
